In the coming years, career opportunities in advanced manufacturing and logistics will be rife across Indiana – for students who are prepared. The age of mindless assembly work has passed, leaving in its wake a new generation of advanced manufacturing and logistics industries. Careers in these industries now run on technology, requiring a more highly-skilled workforce than ever before.

 

These jobs aren’t for just anybody. But, for those students who are mechanically inclined, are interested in how things are made, have a keen eye for computers, or are excited by  technologies like robotics, then advanced manufacturing and logistics may be right up their alley. Have your students complete four simple “Steps to Success” to determine if their futures lie in advanced manufacturing and logistics.

These short videos give students a good idea of the types of forward-thinking companies and cool projects that are going on right here in Indiana.
  2. Play the game. More than just entertainment, the games and quizzes available here at dreamitdoitindiana.com help students understand the types of challenges they might face in a tech-driven manufacturing facility or high-end logistics operation.  Students who like or excel at a particular game should explore jobs with similar responsibilities and challenges.
  3. Check out the jobs. Click through to the Hot Jobs section of the site to learn about specific job titles and the Hoosier job market for those careers in advanced manufacturing and logistics. You’ll also find info on high school and post-secondary training opportunities and the Hoosier companies that look to your students to fill their workforce needs. 
  4. Enroll in coursework. Whether sophomores or seniors, there is an educational pathway for every student interested in advanced manufacturing and logistics.
